Important information

For the transportation of non-cremated remains, it is essential to ensure that all necessary safety and respect conditions are met.

The remains must be contained in an inner urn made of lead or zinc, hermetically sealed. This urn must be internally lined with a sufficient absorbent material and placed inside a wooden coffin.

The coffin, in turn, must be protected by an outer packaging, which can be:

  • A rigid and resistant wooden or pressed cardboard box.
  • A properly padded burlap or canvas wrapping, designed to protect the coffin and preserve the discretion of its contents.

To ensure proper transportation, the packaging must include sufficient absorbent material between the coffin and the outer layer, as well as sturdy handles that facilitate handling with due respect and care.

Labeling and Marks

The packaging must include the following labels and marks:

  • Name and address of the shipper and consignee.
  • Consignee’s phone number.
  • Air Waybill (AWB) number.
  • Destination airport.
  • Number of pieces making up the shipment (see note).
  • Weight of the package.
  • Handling labels: “ORIENTATION” and “FRAGILE”.
