How to complete an AWB for Pharma

Properly completing the air waybill (AWB) for pharmaceutical shipments is crucial to ensure compliance with international standards and the proper handling of the cargo.

A well-completed AWB facilitates efficient acceptance of the shipment, reduces the risk of temperature excursions, and ensures that the cargo arrives in optimal conditions at its destination.

According to chapter 17.8 of the IATA Temperature Control Regulations (TCR), the AWB for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical cargo must include:

In “Handling Information”:

  • Product name
  • Temperature range:
    • +2°C to +8°C
    • +15°C to +25°C
    • +2°C to +25°C
  • Emergency contact phone number

In “Nature and Quantity of Goods”:

  • Container code (if applicable)
  • Dry ice quantity (if applicable)
